  RULES - EQUIPMENT STANDARDS

1.        The referee and or designated MMS officials shall have the power to disqualify any rider or mechanic who does not conform to the rules and may inspect any part of a motorcycle and or riding equipment in competition at any MMS event.

2.        The referee as authorized may be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his or her opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.  No expressed or implied warranty or safety shall result from such alteration of specifications.  Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.  Their decision is final.

3.        Engine sizes are as per AMA specifications.

4.        The referee and or MMS designated official are empowered to have motors measured in any event under MMS sanction.  Any rider refusing to allow his or her motor to be measured or to prepare his or her motor for measurement automatically disqualifies him/herself and all his promotional and championship points shall be suspended.

5.        All kick stands, center stands, side stands, direction lights, broken fenders, license plates and any such protruding, unsafe objects must be removed.

6.        Standard items may be replaced by after-market accessories, so long as the accessory items are mounted and used in a safe and approved manner.  This is to include such items as wheels, fenders, handlebars, seats, gas tanks, brakes, etc.

7.        All dirt bikes must be equipped with adequate and operating front and rear wheel brakes at the beginning of all motos.

8.        Leakage from gas tanks, fuel systems, or fittings, as well as temporary makeshift repairs is prohibited.  Alterations to mounting brackets are permitted.

9.        All dirt bikes are required to have foot pegs that fold at a 45-degree angle.

10.     All dirt bikes must meet minimum AMA sound standards.  Mufflers and or silencers must be mounted in a safe working manner.

11.     At the start of each practice, qualifier, and moto all dirt bikes must be equipped with approved mufflers and or silencers in proper operating condition subject to the approval of the referee and or designated MMS official.

12.     Handle bars may not be broken, cracked or repaired.  Handlebar mounts may be properly altered.  Control levers must have ball ends (Min. ½ in.).  Handlebar ends must be covered.

13.     All dirt bikes must have a kill-button in operating condition, mounted on the left-hand handlebar.
