  RULES - PROMOTIONAL POINTS

1.      Promotional points accumulate per rider, not per class and they are accumulated from year to year.  Promotions to the next classification are given at the conclusion of each day’s events.

2.      No promotional points are awarded in the 50cc class, 65 Open, 105 Open, Women’s class, Vet Open class and all Expert classes.

3.      Promotional points are awarded to no more than the top five overall finishers.

4.      A minimum of six rider entries constitutes a class for promotional points.

5.      When you earn the proper promotional points you must advance to the next classification.

6.      Be aware of your promotional points.  MMS will constantly update promotional points and attempt to inform riders as they near promotion, but it is the rider’s responsibility to keep track of his points and move up as soon as points are met.  Failure to do so may result in disqualification and or suspension.

7.      A rider may freeze his or her promotional points after the half way point of either series and remain in that class for the remainder of that series.  The novice rider must inform the MMS immediately before earning 25 promotional points. The amateur rider must inform the MMS immediately before earning 100 promotional points (except 65cc amateur, 50 points).  The rider must announce intention to “FREEZE” before competing in another race!  The rider will remain “FROZEN” until the end of the season, at which time he or she will be promoted to the next higher classification.

8.      A rider who has frozen their promotional points will continue to accumulate championship points.

9.      MMS reserves the right to demote a rider if he poses any danger to himself or other riders or if MMS decides he was promoted unjustly or erroneously in any other series or district.

10. Rider classification changes made within other organizations must be reported in writing to the MMS within 10 days of the change.  Failure to notify MMS within 10 days will result in a one race day suspension.

11. X-riders do accumulate promotional points.
